Im sick of all these video converters out there. Ive only tried 2-3 myself, and dont fancy going through them all 1 by 1 lol.
What would you say is the best AVI 2 DVD converter there is?

    Thanks guys

What is "too long" for you? Conversion involves an unbelievable number of mathematical computations. Depending on computer speed, conversions can take longer than the play time of the video itself. Only a few generations of computers ago, it was an overnight deal. If you have the latest multiple-core computer with maxed-out ram and a fast hard disk, then things will progress much faster. But don't expect instant results.

I would also recommend ConvertX if you don't want to get into a bit more complex and time consuming 'fine tuning' of each and every conversion. And no matter what 'converter/encoder' you use, speed is mostly dependent on the encoder settings and the speed that your CPU can run the encoder/codec.

On a base level quad core ConvertXtoDVD takes around 20 minutes to convert a 90 - 120 minute film. Twice as long if you use the registry hack to get 2-pass encoding. AVStoDVD takes around 50 - 60 minutes to do the same thing.

Given it was only a couple of years ago this was an all night exercise, <60 minutes is pretty good.

If you are finding these tools are too slow then you have to buy new hardware, because that is the only fix.

Its all in the matter of preference, I like The Film Machine , some days I like to use HCenc and others i like to use CCE and Procoder . and for audio you have the options to use sonic foundry or surcode or just use aften.
TFM isn't the fastest app out there But It has plenty of options that out weighs the speed
