I hope someone out there can help me. Recently, my town put on a play in Japanese. I recorded that play and now I want my English-speaking friends to watch and enjoy it. I created an MPEG-2 file with Sony Vegas Move Studio Platinum 9.0 and spent 17 hours timing subtitles to that file in Subtitle Workshop. The subtitles weren't displaying properly in Subtitle Workshop at first, but I simply downloaded an updated MPEG-2 codec and that seemed to solve that issue. The subtitles are perfectly timed in Subtitle Workshop.
Then I saved the subtitle file as a SonicDVDCreator .sub file and proceeded to open a project in DVDit Pro 6.0. The play video file opens just fine and when I import the .sub file, I get no errors. However, when I play the video file in simulation, the subtitles become progressively more and more out of sync with the video! They start off fine, but by the end of the video, they are around 5 seconds too slow. (This seems to be exactly the same problem I was having while trying to subtitle the file in Subtitle Workshop before I downloaded the new codec.) I have tried offsetting the start time of the entire subtitle set, but it seems to have no effect at all. The subtitles stay exactly as they are, even if I offset the time by a ridiculous amount.
Does anyone know what the problem is? I am a newbie at this, so please, any theories you have could be useful. Thanks.
