The con side of the AVCHD format is editing difficulty and loss of quality due to recode when editing. Quality can be retained with cuts only editing for playback as a AVCHD file on a Blu-Ray or PS3 player. Advanced editing requires a fast computer or conversion to a digital intermediate. Consumer edit software usually recodes AVCHD to MPeg2 to allow slower computers to be used.
