Two large avi files all of a sudden became inaccessible: access denied.
I tried the regustry fix of removing the InProcServer32 key, but that didn't work.
The solution was to go into safe mode (using xp pro) and on the security tab for each file, restore the user name and system name and re-establish the permissions for each file. Mysteriuously these had been deleted some how.

That's good to know. It probably doesn't happen all that often. I've been doing video since 2003 and that's never happened to me. Thanks for the tip though I'll keep that in mind if it happens to me.
