software upscaling possible?

I got some dvd quality videos and am trying to view them on my 1920x1200 screen and when I maximize the window i can tell that the quality gets worse. Is there any software to upscale these videos so that they will appear better when in full screen?

How is it connected?

What is your monitor? ...and its native resolution?

DVD is 720x480. Your display card upscales to the output resolution.

Software upscale isn't going to make the DVD equivalent to HD.

my monitor is a hanns G 1920x1200. The dvd videos in question are only 10 to 20mins long. If the difference in quality is obvious I would upscale them

I should also mention that currently my graphic card alone doesnt do any upscaling work with my dvd videos on my pc. Is there a program that would upscale them?

It is if you are watching full screen and not in a little 720x480 window. The question is what algorithm is it using. Probably bilinear or bicubic.

I've never used thier software but I find the Deemon's web site to be disengenous, showing nearest neighbor enlargements next to their (hand picked) super resolution results. I don't trust them because of it. At least they show more realistic results if you dig down a bit:
