I convert DVD-discs to MPG-files on my computers hard disk. I use VOB2MPEG PRO to read DVDs burned by a Philips DVD-recorder. They contain TV-shows and programs recorded from TV (PAL-broadcast)

    I start VOB2MPG. I use IFO-mode. When I select/open a VIDEO_TS.IFO file I get a list of the contents but also a message: (see uploaded image)

    Could not get interfaces
    Ugyldig(Danish for: Not valid) pointer

I just close the the message-window and work on. It doesn't seem to have any importance, but I'm curios
    Why does this message appear?
    What does it mean?
What do I do to avoid it?

I hope somebody can give me a clue
    Knud

Two things could be causing this.

1 - DVD recorders often have strange DVD structures. FixVTS can help:

This is especially useful if your DVD had some kind of copy protection or recorded with a DVD Recorder that prevents DVDShrink, Vobblanker, etc from opening it. FixVTS can fix that for you
2 - Your directshow codecs may not be set up corectly.

Try #1 first. If that does not resolve it we can look at #2

No, it does not! The last version with a working preview is 3.0.0021

    WinXP Pro SP3 (German)
Video card ATI Rage Pro Turbo
DVDs do play flawlessly with PowerDVD, MPC Home Cinema, WMP

Do you have the same issue as that or is it different?

Absolutely the same issue. The difference between the current version and build 3.0.0024 is that I now only get one error message while the older version displayed two. Build 3.0.0030 pops up the "Could not get interfaces" message, and after clicking it away the preview window tells me "Trying auto mode" and that's it. The older build came up with a second error message after displaying "Trying auto mode".

Do you need any more info about my hardware or software? I forgot to mention that my DVD burner is connected via IDE, not SATA.

    Cheers

manolito - i think it may be better to email me. We need to look at some graphedit graphs and your installed codecs to get to the bottom of this.
