The latter two are on a separate bill from the phone company.

TWC calls me up at least every couple months, trying to get me to switch my broadband internet over to them. I think I'm going to stop being polite when they do this. What I should honestly tell them is: "You're cable service SUCKS ! Why the fug would I ever want to get my internet from you turkeys ?!" Maybe then they will stop calling.
I complain every time I get the bill. When I think about it though - it's worth it to us. We've had zero issues with WOW for the 7 combined years we've had them. I'd love to drop the cable service. But because of my bundle deal, it would be $120/month for just internet and phone. That's a rip off IMO. I can drop the internet speed to save some cash, I won't though. We upgraded to 15/1 from 6/512 as soon as they had it available. For as many PCs as we have, it makes a huge difference.

We used to live in another location. Had Dish, and Embarq for a landline and DSL. Had one STB with Dish, no DVR, and only 3.0/512 internet. The total cost after tax was $160++ Dish was only $42/month after tax.

TWC stops by our house all the time. They say they can give us the exact same package for less. Without even asking what we are paying, nor what we have. Once I show them my bill, they always say the same thing. "Sorry we can't match that"

Then a TWC tech knocked on the door and asked us to put it on channel 13. He said they just did some repairs to our line, and wanted to make sure everything was working. Once he figured out we didn't have TWC, he wanted to us to switch over

I called the main local office, and told them if I receive another call, knock on the door, or junk mail, I'll place harassment charges on them. <-It was honestly that bad. 4 months and TWC has not bothered us

Okay todays the day. I just called and cancelled my account with direct tv. I now just have over the air DTV and a small htpc hooked up to my tv. Between the digital tv broadcasts and services like netflix watch now and hulu, the only thing I will miss is the extra bill that I was paying. It feels good!

Dropped DirecTV after the first year monthly rebate expired and my bill jumped to $60+/month. Put an antenna on the roof that feeds my flatscreen ATSC TV and one of those D-to-A converter boxes for my old SDTV. Both work great with the $80 antenna from BestBuy.

    Downside: No CNN or MSNBC.

Workaround: My AppleTV has my favorite shows from those channels bookmarked, so to speak, so I may watch whatever, whenever.

Upside: I watch much less TV.

Gallegher complains about the quality of TV shows: "The TV has a brightness knob on it but, when I turn it, it doesn't do anything."

Same thing here. I was locked into a 18 month contract. After 12 months the "into" price ended and I was also paying $60 plus a month. I then lowered my services to the bare minimum which ran me about $45 with two receivers. Then I started looking at the programs I had recorded on my dvr. Almost all of them was available on broadcast tv. I told my wife "why are we paying for this when most of the channels we watch are available for free?" Wasn't long after that we decided to cancel and just had to wait until our contract was up. That day is today.

I now just have free DTV. I also have a small HTPC hooked up to my tv so I can watch netflix , hulu, and other streaming sites. I'm not gonna miss anything. Heck my wife even gets to see her favorite "Lifetime" shows through the HTPC. I couldn't be happier.

I didn't even wait until the contract was up. I paid the $80 cancellation fee. The cost of the antenna plus the cancellation fee was $160. That's a little less than three months of service. I took the hit and told them to go away.

They called me twice in the next week to try to get me to come back; even offered me the $42/month I had been paying for the next year. I was so pissed at them for not offering this during our initial discussions (three weeks earlier) about me leaving that I told them the train has left the station.
