The PS3 isn't recognizing the disc with AVI files burned on it?

Why not just convert the AVIs to a format the PS3 will recognize? They need to have a DivX/Xvid video stream, and an MP3 audio stream.

Make sure you have updated the PS3 to the latest firmware, as support for various formats. It now plays most formats, so unless you are trying to play RMVB, some obscure format, or files very badly encoded, you should be having few issues.

Your process to get the files to play is long-winded and unnecessarily complicated. Something as simple as AVI Recomp will probably solve most of your issues.

However I would suggest you start with g-spot or mediainfo and find out what is so strange about these files.
