I am looking for a nice portable backdrop kit I can take with me on location when I do interviews.
Perhaps a nice solid black fabric, and maybe a burgandy abstract-type one.
Anyone got any good ideas of the best place to buy these?
(I am in the US)...

depends what the subject matter is...personally, I like the brick wall in a bag which seems to work well with everything...
yours sounds pretty basic...could probably make your own from the discussion over at www.themagiccafe.com with their ideas and links
I remember the hilarious Jack Nicklaus interview on ABC when the whole backdrop sign fell down... -
Here's one:

For more options, do a Google (or better yet, Yahoo) search with the keywords: photographic supplies backdrop. -
I didn't buy one because they're too expensive...I just like the concept of popping a brick wall up anywhere
I use a real brick wall when filming or interviewing...heh heh
you can buy brick wallpaper on ebay for $10 up and make your own backdrop
