Hi, I need some help. I bought a Samsung DVD/VHS recorder, and this is my first one. I am not sure how to use it for what I want to do.

I read the manual and there is a dozen options for recording and I don't know which is the right one. I want to pop in a VHS tape and burn it onto a DVD disc, so I can either play it back on a dvd player, or slip it on the computer and edit it.

What is this Dubbing and stuff? and HDMI or whatever it is. Help?

Excellent answer...However, reading something and UNDERSTANDING it is another thing...
Personally, if I know WHAT I WANT, then read that part of the F M.............
Of course, we have to consider the latest generation of ILLITTERAT'S..It's amazing that some people can't read and understand...Push button 1, , insert, press record ,....or whatever........
Go to the BOOK STORE.....there are many many volumes of books ..
    Even for "dummies"...
    Or the Idiot's guide...
Of course , you need to read though...
    And follow the direction's.......
Hand over hand doesn't work well in a forum........

Pick SP mode, two hours, for this Samsung recorder.

Play VHS, record DVD. It may not work if tape is copy-protected (or a damaged-signal homemade tape that it thinks is copy-protected). That gets more complicated.

HDMI is a connection wire, from DVD device to HDTV.
