    Hello,

I have a Ubuntu Desktop server, Quad Core Q6600, 4GB RAM. I am trying to run meGUI using Wine, but it doesn't really run.

I tried running the meGUI.exe via. Wine, but the exe doesn't run. It says "Starting meGUI" in task bar, but it never loads.

Anyone knows how to run meGUI on Ubuntu?

    Thanks!

    "Required tools:
    Microsoft .NET Runtime 2.0"

Maybe you have to run it inside a virtual machine. Not sure if Wine handles the .NET runtimes.

So, you mean install VMWare and then do it?

VMWare, Virtualbox... either one should work.

I'm not an expert on Wine (or even a knowlegable user). There might be a way with Wine but I don't know it. I'm just offering other options. If Wine doesn't work, a windows virtual machine almost certainly will.

You could try to install the windows version of mono (.net substitute) and then install megui both in wine.

When starting new programs in wine the best way is to start from command line terminal.

    sudo wine "/home/user/wine/drive_c/program files/your prog.exe"
Or something like that. I'm going from memory here as I'm booted in win right now. When running from terminal you will be able to see any errors that pop up and then you will know what to go after to fix.

This is a good practice for running any new programs in linux not just those in wine. A tip I got from disturbed1 that has helped me a lot.

I already have mono-service 1 and 2 installed, but no help. On the command line it says, "wine is not owned by you". I have no idea what that means.

How do I run a wine application once I've installed it?

Also the mono service I mean is the windows version. Install it with wine. I have no idea if this will work or not as I haven't tried to use a .net program with wine but I think I read somewhere that it may work.

If your machine has the resources to run a vm then that may be the easiest way to go.

sometimes wine works better when consumed...

  10. Current versions do not work according to all the developers (some ancient builds will work apparently), if you figure out a way, I'm sure many people will be happy

In the meantime, you can use avidemux in linux for encoding (incl. x264)

I am using AVIdemux. Do you know how to use avisynth scripting with AVIdemux?

Manual scripting yields better results than the default filters in avidemux. You know how to add external filters in avidemux?

    Thank!
