  1. All I want to know how to do is watch a MPEG file, or a AVI file I made with VideoWave using my DVD player. I have a Pioneer player that can view VCDs and it says it can view MPEGs.
I burn the file to the CD and try to play it and DVD player starts, then the display timer starts going real fast and not video or audio is show or heard.
CompUSA said to just make a MPEG2 and burn it to the CD and play it in the DVD player,,,tried that and again, I got nothing......
I don't care to RIP DVDs, I just want to know how to make my files viewable via a DVD player.... any help would be great!!!

  2. I may be wrong, but the avi needs to be converted or whatever to vcd format or svcd format to play in most dvd players. Nero offers this with the plugins.

  5. From my understanding, and please tell me if I am wrong.... Nero changes your AVI file to a MPEG and then you just burn it as you would any other file.... if that is the case, why can't I just burn my MPEGs that I have to the CD and play them on the DVD player. I have burned MPEGs to the cd and still not able to play them on my DVD player....please help

  6. All I know is that a dvd player wont play mpeg files. The mpeg must be in vcd format. Mpeg or mpeg 2 must be in vcd or svcd to play on a dvd player. I donot beleive there is a windows media compatible dvd player on the market today ( yet )

  7. Thanks for the reply,,,, two things.... first, is there any freeware that will do the same as Nero, or close to what I need done... Second, will Nero burn the vcd to the cd or does it make a file which I will have to burn it myself using the drag and drop within Windows XP???? thanks in advance.
