hi,i have a apple ipod nano v3 8gb. these are fake ipods and are only 1gb,this may help with my problem. itunes doesnt work because of the software in these ipods. what i have to do is drag drop which isnt a problem. the problem i have is transferring videos. the sample video already on is a video clip 128 pixels width 160 height, video 64kps,15f/s. i have my own xvids and have converted to mpeg-4 and transferred to ipod. in the ipod i cant see the video. if i go into windows explorer and change the extension to .avi,it then becomes video clip but refuses to play in the ipod. is there something else i need to do,or is it unplayable simply because the ipods are fake? is there any way around this to make them play? cheers

The files need to be in a format supported by the player. In addition to being in a suported format (ie: avi), the files also need to meet the specs supported by the player (ie: 128 pixels width 160 height, video 64kps,15f/s ). The user manual should list the supported file types and specs.
There are apps in the Tools section for performing the conversions.Google is your Friend -
ok,something not quite right here,is it because these are fake?i had a clip already on,a music vid. when i saved it and viewed in media player, the video was flipped 90 degrees.in properties its 128x160,64kbs audio,93kbs video,15 framerate. these are the programs i have used.
mpegstreamclip
avidemux 2.4.4
mediacoder pmp edition
videora ipod nano conerter.
all produce same results.
with mpegstreamclip,i can resize 128x160, audio 64kbs,framerate 15. i have the option to flip the image too.after conversion i rename extension to .avi then i see it in the ipod, just refuses to play it.u know me,i like free tv -
Sounds like your conversions are wrong. You shouldn't have to rename the extension.

How are they 'fake'?
As far as I know, iPods don't support playback from AVI videos. (Which brings me back to the question above, as I don't think the iPod firmware would notice AVI files; they'd probably have to be in a certain folder, though (and I don't know which, sorry. I've always let iTunes (or Videora and iTunes) handle the video cataloging on my sister's iPod.)If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
Two solutions:
1 - Use WinAVI MP4 Converter
Once you convert the videos, you have an option of directly transferring the videos to the connected Ipod.
2 - Install Winamp & ml_ipod plugin.
Convert using either WinAVI/any other Ipod converter. Drag n drop the file to the Winamp playlist. DO NOT TRY TO PLAY IT YET. Right click on the file & hit "Send to Ipod".
Those r the best known workarounds that I can suggest so far.
