    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if any of you can recommend a good track dolly for purchase (I don't want to make one). I'm looking for something that does a reasonable job and is priced more at the budget end of the spectrum.

    Regards,

Here in the US, Matthews Studio Equipment makes dollies for video shooters with modern, lightweight cameras. Most are $2000 (US) and up. However, just about anything with wheels can be made into a dolly. A standard industrial dolly/cart (for moving boxes, furniture, etc.) can have plywood base added for tripod support. Heck, I've used a wheelchair many times to get the shot. If your budget's limited, you have to be creative and resourceful. If you need a full-blown, high-end production dolly, you can always rent.

Thanks Filmboss80. Dollys seem quite expensive, do you think most video production places hire their dollys or buy them outright?
