Hi.
I have a sony video camera model no: DCR-TRV255E
I have lost my software to input images / video into my vista 32 bit computer, but i was told i can use something called windv with a firewire or something.
i am not going to purchase a new firewire cable. I only have a normal USB cable. Is there some other program i can use besides windvt that would go with my usb cable?
thanks a bunch.

FIreWire would give you the very best quality, but you would need a FireWire PCI card in your computer and a FireWire cable. Then you could use WinDV. This would give you an exact copy of what's on your video tape.
The USB connection is generally lower quality used for streaming video or putting video on the internet.
If that's what you want, you should be able to get the USB software from one of the Sony sites.
But others here may know of a different software that works for USB capture.
And welcome to our forums. -
Get/borrow a Firewire cable. Do it right.
