philips 722 svcd problem

hey guys

i recently bought a philips 722 dvd player to watch my dvd's and svcd's..

i haven't had any problems playing dvd's but when i play svcd's the screen freezes for about sec sometimes.. it seems to happen at ramdom.. sometimes a svcd will play fine for 30 minutes and than all of sudden freezes like 4 times in 3 minutes.. when i play the same svcd again it will play those same scenes fine but freeze at other scenes..

when i bought the player the guy from the store made it region free and i've used different types of cd-r media.

anyone familiar with this problem and is there a sollution?

I´m losting hair with Philips too, mine is a 711 , but I´ve discovered :
1) When I encoded with Tsunami , SVCD template , the bug appears, play and freeze randomly.
2) When I encoded with CCE, MPG2 , the bug appears but not so frequentely.
3) When I encoded with Tsunami , VCD template , no problems, always play fine.

So , I conclude that is because Philips it´s SVCD creator and if U made a SVCD with SOFTWARE that isn´t full compliant with Philips specs, bad things may occur, but not with VCD.

I have Philips tools (designer,creator and tester) to make SVCD and when I create one using other tools,like VCDEasy or TSCV and use Philips tester to verify my SVCD , I get a lot of errors and warnings.

At last , after I upgraded Philips´s DVD BIOS to version 7.22 (originally 7.12) , CCE MPG2´s stoped freezing but not Tsunami.

CCE work OK for my Philips 622, but only if I don't go too low on bitrate. Examples :

CBR 2500 + 224 OK
VBR min 900/avr 1600/max 2500 OK
VBR min 900/avr 1400/max 2400 (352x576), 2 x audio 160+160 OK
VBR min 900/avr 1250/max 2000 (352x576), audio 128 DOESN'T WORK (Freezes)

I've got the 711 Philips model, and I experimented problems with TMPEGenc mpg.
If I fastforward or review the player locks.

The firmware il 7.22
