I have an avi file and it's in H 264. My question is what software can decode the h 264 so I can play the avi in a stand alone dvd that doesn't support H 264

Convert it to avi divx/xvid using handbrake.

If your dvd player doesn't support divx/xvid then convert it to dvd-video using dvd flick.

    Done.

I believe Super can convert from h.264 to divx/xvid.

I've always used AutoGK, installed with ESS compatibility active, to convert h.264 AVIs to DivX/Xvid AVIs capable of playing on my Philips players. AVI Recomp will probably do the job as well.

Any issues with SUPER's quality aside, I'm not sure if it produces an AVI the DVD players won't have an issue with, by default. Of course, I haven't tried it, so I'm willing to admit I could be wrong.

I used Hand Brake which worked thx but is there anything else out there that won't use 100% cpu.

And I have another question that has to deal with the same avi file.

Resolution is in 768*432 and My player doesn't support that, I need to change the resolution to something smaller what do you recommend.

And thank you for your reply's

Use for example 672x378 or 640x360 for 16:9 material.

And all encoders will take take 100% cpu by default. You can lower the encoding process priority using the task manager if you are going to do something at the same time.

Hi Baldrick I have another question. I have went and redone my avi file with handbrake removed the H264 and re-sized the resolution from 768*432 to 640*352 which it worked so thank you again.

But my question is? My avi file came out great but there is one issue speeds up and slows down through the avi.

Is there a setting that i'm missing in HandBrake
