    is their any cable or wires that would allow me to watch my .avi on tv without encoding?

    like to connect from computer to tv?

  2. You haven't supplied us with enough info. What type of outputs does your computer have and what type of inputs does your tv have? If both have hdmi or dvi than that would be the way to go.

    It depends on your video card and what connections your TV has.

    Most middle range / high end video cards will have a s-video output for standard analog televisions.

    If you have a HD set, the TV might have a VGA or DVI input you can connect the computer to.

    Or you could spend a whole $40.00 on a standalone dvd player that will play avi (as in Divx/Xvid) files from a dvdr/cdr on your TV without re-encoding but then you were not real specific on your "avi" files specs.

    what dvd player would you recommend? so i have to burn the .avi directly to dvdr or cdr and im set?
    my .avi are movies download from the internet.
    SPECS: mpeg-4 visual , streaming video@L1 (got info from MEDIAINFO)

    Or you can get a DVD player (that can play DIVX/MPEG4) with a USB connector on the front panel, just copy your .AVI to a USB drive and then plug the USB drive into the DVD player, the DVD should be able to play it to the TV.
