hi all:
Im new to this and i am wondering what the steps to making a successfull vcd is?I Have Tryed to take an avi file from the internet encode it using tmpgen into an mpeg ive made it video 352x240 29.97 khz 44.1khz audio 224 bits saved as mpeg-1then i used nero to copy it nero told me the first time that invalid audio stream 48,000khz 2 channel so i changed that in tmpgen to 44.1 i encoded again. now i dont get audio error i get video stream error
i think ive made a simple thing into a nightmare i've even tryed to leave it alone and use nero and let nero encode it
it always comes up on my dvd player disk not found my dvd is a sony dvp-s550d which says on the front dvd/cd/video-cd
if i put the vcd in a computer cdrom it wont read there either.all of these mpegs and avis ive downloadewd run fine on media player.i also tryed adpatec easy cd creator same thing i get errors telling me i need a valid mpeg-1 file what am i missing this is such a pain in the but i feel this close any help would be appreciated. Im sorry for such a long message but i felt i should explain all i've tryed.
Thanks!!!

Try the templates that come with TMPGEnc. In your case try the PAL VCD or NTSC VCD (depending on the TV you use for playback) template. You can select them using the "Load" button on the bottom right in the TMPGEnc main screen. This will give you VCD compliant MPEG1s. Nero will accept these files. The fact that your DVD player says "Disk not found" could be the fact that the disc wasn't VCD compliant or that it could not read the medium. Maybe you have to try different brands of CD-R and CD-RW discs. Some players are very picky at what you feed them.

Willem
