    Hello

Excuse me if you think that this question has been answered. But I think I have found similar questions answered, but not this specific question.

I did shoot a recent function organized in our home with sony handycam. I transferred the data to my pc just as I did before. But I don't know where I went wrong and though the capture was good, a 918mb film, the duration (length) was shown as 0:0:0. I didn't mind it as when I played it back on my pc, it played well. But now I want to make a cd/dvd of it to present to one of my friends. For that when I tried to use windows movie maker, it said, the file could not be imported as it was not indexed. I searched on the net, and downloaded and used windows encoder and file editor to no avail. The encoder ran the whole file for almost one and half hours, and output a 5 or 6 kb renamed file. The file editor says file could not be saved when I asked to reindex it. The markers could not be set as the length would not be displayed. But the file editor also plays the file.
I used a converting software and converted the file to mpeg-2. It came out nicely a one hour film, but when I used the movie maker, it is a single whole clip and there are no frames in it.

Now what shall I do to index this original wmv file or the converted mpg file so that I can edit it and subtitle it or do something else?

    Thanks in advance.

Try running the WMV through asfbin. It might be able to repair/reindex it.
