I'll have to pause from time to time as I type this question so I can pull some of my hair out.

    Here are my specs:

Gateway DX-series computer, 1.8 quad core AMD Phenom, 4G RAM, 512M shared video card

    Here is my situation:

Just got this computer a week ago to upgrade to be able to work with HDV. Worked great! Been editing away like a madman with Studio 10. Today, I connected my Canon HV30 to this new computer for the first time to download new material. Camera is not recognized unless it's in DV locked mode. While searching around the 'net for ways to get the damn thing to work (maybe I need to locate some new drivers - this happened with the old system as well) I went back into Studio just for the hell of it.

Now I can't drag any new clips into the timeline. It says "Cannot edit HD - Graphics card doesn't have enough memory." Wait...pulling some hair out...

Last night I was able to edit fully and drag clips in, move them around on the timeline, etc. Now I can edit existing clips that are already in the timeline but I can't move them around at all. I can open my existing HDV projects, shorten clips, add titles....just can't add new clips to any projects new or old and cannot move clips around in existing HD projects. So when it says "cannot edit," you'll understand if I call B******t!

Anyway go through this yet? I really can't take this much longer.

    Thanks!

Many editors has huge problems with hd video like random crashes, buggy, very slow, etc. I would probably try find another editor, for example videostudio. Just download the trials and test.
