I've undertaken the task of backing up my Blu-Rays as high definition MKVs, but I came across a problem with one of my videos. When I open the m2ts file using Nero it plays perfectly, but if I open it in MeGUI's AVS Script Creator a 10-15 second segment of the video glitches completely with nothing but random coloured blocks (see an example in the image I've attached). This also happens with all my sundry video players (aside from Nero of course). I think it's a problem with ffdshow, but I'm not sure. Has anybody run into similar problems?

What is the video codec in the m2ts? h264,vc1 or mpeg2? Identify using mediainfo.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. It's VC-1.

Tried upgrade to a newer version of ffdshow? Be sure to enable vc1 in the ffdshow codecs settings also.

  5. If it's a interlaced vc-1 source, neither the windows decoder or ffdshow will decode it properly. There is no free way that I know of to properly decode this type of content

I think constructing a graph in graphedit/graphstudio with arcsoft vc-1 decoder, or cyberlink's vc-1 decoder will work, but I am not certain

If you have a compatible Nvidia card (fairly new with VP2 and cuda), you can use Neuron2's NV tools and it will decoder properly (not free, requires a donation on the site). This works for sure.

I updated ffdshow and the problem remains. I'll look into the graphedit idea. Thanks for the help.

  7. Is it interlaced vc-1 content that you have? you can check with mediainfo

you may need jaybee's vc-1 tweaker to connect the pins, more info here:

I just checked and it's progressive video. I did notice that the glitches were less terrible when I updated ffdshow, so I expect if I wait long enough, the decoder will get better and I'll be able to back it up.
