Question about subs from .MKV files

Sorry if this has been answered else where but I couldn't find anything about this after using the search engine on this site.

I have .MKV files that I want to convert to avi or H264 files and I want to encode subtitles in as well. When I use the program KMVExtract the subtitle file comes up "S_TEXT/ASS" and when I extract the subtittle file is extracts as "Track03.ass" or the like. I can't get programs such as GOTsent or XviD4PSP to recognize this type of file. Is there a way to change the subtitle file or am I using the wrong program to extract the subtitle file so that I can hard encode it? From what I understand, XenonMKV and GOTsent will convert the MKV into an avi or mp4 that can be read on an Xbox360 but it doesn't convert it with subtitles. Can anyone give any advice or possibly point me in the right direction?

Convert the ass to srt and they should work fine to load in xvid4psp. See http://forum.videohelp.com/topic330506.html#1882072

.ass subs should work when you add them manually in xvid4psp
