I have noticed more and more lately that when I attempt to backup a DVD (standard, not blu-ray) DVDFab HD and rip-it-4-me are encountering issues related to copy protection. Not a huge deal as backups are contingency and it's rare I've had to use them but thought it'd be something fun to figure out in my spare time as I am somewhat ofa novice with these things.
What do people typically do in this situation? Do you use another tool to rip the DVD to a raw file like an .avi or .mpg and then burn from this format?

I download latest dvdfab decrypter beta or anydvd beta....and if it wont work I wait for a new dvdfab/anydvd release.

OK thanks! Just wanted to make sure there wasn't some easy fix I was missing.

For the benefit of 123fish123, who apparently didn't know this.
Rip-It-4-me, DVDShrink and DVD Decrypter have not been updated in years. The DVDShrink author abandoned it to take a job working for Nero. The authors of DVD Decrypter and Rip-It-4-me were given offers they could not refuse by a company associated with DVD production. They were told that if they stopped work on the programs and surrendered all source code and agreed never to work on them again, they would not face a potentially ruinous lawsuit or other legal action. Given how the US courts ruled against 123Studios and put them out of business even though 123Studios felt that their program was obeying the law in how it worked, it's difficult to blame the authors for agreeing to this offer. We get posts all the time from people who still use one of those programs for ripping and want to know why it doesn't work. Actually they work fine for almost all non-region 1 discs as the newer copy protection methods are rarely if ever used outside of region 1.
DVDFab HD Decrypter is updated because it comes from a country that doesn't give in to the MPAA and their thugs. I think AnyDVD is also similarly updated regularly, but I have never used that. -

Your best course
Rip with latest version of DVDFab or AnyDVD
Burn to DL Disc with Imgburn
or
Rip with latest version of DVDFab or AnyDVD
Transcode with DVDShrink or Re-encode with DVDRebuilder
Burn to Disc with Imgburn -
DVDshrink does NOT burn!!!!
It shrinks (transcodes) the files to fit a single layer dvdr & you can instruct it to either output a VIDEO_TS folder or an ISO, which is just a container that holds the VIDEO_TS folder and all the needed files.
You can also instruct it to burn the resulting file/s using either nero, dvd decrypter or if you use the modified version to burn with ImgBurn.
