  1. Is there a free software that allows me to change titles of mp3s?
This is the first time this has happened where in Winamp I go to "View file info" and try to change the song title, album, artist and it says "cannot change metadata: file is read-only"

    thanks in advance!

In Windows Explorer, right-click on the MP3 in question, then select Properties. In the General tab, under 'Attributes:', the 'Read-only' box will probably be checked. Uncheck it, then hit OK, and see if you can edit the ID3 tag info, then.

Two programs for editing ID3 tag info I'd recommend, though, are MP3ext (adds an MP3 information page to Properties, and allows you to display an icon with the MP3's bitrate for each MP3), and MP3tag (the one at http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ , not the shareware program with the same name).

    Edit: MP3ext's homepage: http://www.mutschler.de/mp3ext/
