so i wanted to rip the ending scene to the series finale of six feet under. i ripped that scene with dvd decrypter, and using auto gk version 2.55 to convert from vob to divx avi. but i get this error message, "video compression error: the source image format is not acceptable (error code -2)"
this has been happening more and more often when i want to convert a vob file...anyone know why this is happening? i really wanna convert this file. please help.

  2. Are you setting the cropping and/or frame size yourself? Divx requires frame dimensions that are multiples of 4. Multiples of 8 are better. Multiples of 16 are most efficient. So, for example, Divx will refuse to compress 641x480 and 642x480. 644x480 should play on pretty much every player. 640x480 will give the best efficiency.

I've never had to do that. How would I go about doing that with autogk?

I'm pretty sure AutoGK automatically optimizes the frame size to mod16. I was just warning you not to overide the setting.

Anyone else have autogk knowledge on why I'm having this issue?

  11. It's not a cropping/resizing issue. You haven't provided enough information, though, to figure out the problem. Please post the log. Since you said it's a DivX conversion, there's a good chance you're using a DivX codec more up-to-date than what AutoGK supports. Either switch to XviD or use an older DivX codec.

ok i'm uploading the log created by autogk

  13. Do you have any DivX codec at all installed? It's not included with AutoGK. My first suggestion is to switch to using XviD to see if the encode completes.

    i do have divx and xvid...divx latest version...xvid 1.2.1-04122008
i tried converting with xvid...same error message.

  15. That's the XviD 1.2.1 that's included with the latest ver 2.55 of AutoGK, isn't it?

Until you get this sorted out I'd suggest working with XviD. I'm not entirely sure whether or not AutoGK supports the DivX 6.x.x. Maybe it does, but I'm not positive. I'm pretty sure it doesn't support the version 7 of DivX. I would next suggest starting over. First uninstall your XviD in Add/Remove programs. I would next delete AutoGK and reinstall the ver 2.55 upgrade, including the included version of XviD. I know, it's not exactly what you wanted to hear, but many such problems have been fixed with a reinstall, and I'm not really sure what the problem is. And for a really obscure possible reason for the problem, read this thread:

From the autogk log are you choosing the vob as the input file?
Not sure if this will make any difference, but have you tried loading the ifo instead?

Out of interest, does this occur when you encode for example a full length tv epsiode or movie, or only when the input is a small clip of say, less than 1 min?

Could you try lowering the bitrate? The log suggest you are aiming at 150mg for the clip.
    Try custom size much lower.

Try putting the input and output into a different folder, for example: c:\temp\VTS_01_1.VOB

I'm unsure of the limit if any for xvid/divx, but at the moment your target bitrate is 3007kbps.

What I meant was, put BOTH input and output into folder c:\temp

Reason: your current folder structure might have a problem.

If that doesn't work, then read section 6.7 of the Official_AutoGK_FAQ
