  1. Hi
I have for few years LG LDA-530 player. In my opinion it was one of the simplest in use and the best player Dvd/divx player on the market. Few years past and of course technology improve and I think is time to buy new player. I would like to buy some player with usb, easy to make region free and easy to use but my question is about something else. I hope the somebody will know what I'm talking about. This LG LDA-530 dvd/divx player has very seldom zoom option. It has typical zoom X100, X400, X1600 and something which I cannot find in another players zoom which I can stretch 3 different position vertically only.
I will really appreciate if someone can help me to find good player and will tell me what the name of this zoom is.
    Thank you in advance

  2. Philips Divx/DVD players have zoom levels of 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 1, 2, 3 and 4x. I find zooming in 2x is too much to be useful. Otherwise the DVP-5990 and 5992 are pretty good Divx players (so-so DVD players) with USB 2.0 ports. They're hard to find now though. I suspect the next generation is about to hit the streets.

I have an old Liteon 2002 which lets you zoom in and out in about 10 percent increments, individually on both axis.

Another type of device to consider are media players like the Popcorn Hour (!US$200) and the Western Digital TV HD (US$100). These have USB ports and can play many different types of media files including high definition h.264 off thumb drives and hard drives. The former can also play via wired/wireless networking.
