I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop and I'm trying to figure out how to connect it to my Hitachi Plasma TV, model 42HDS69. My laptop only has a VGA output for video and headphone output for audio. I've searched a lot for this, but can't seem to get an answer.

It looks like the plasma has no vga or dvi(analog) input, you then need to get some kind of converter box(VGA to HDMI or VGA to SVIDEO).

    "New laptop"
Return it for one with a TV port (composite, S-Video and analog component) or one with DVI-D/HDMI out.

  4. You need something like this:

That laptop must be old because all newer laptops have at least a composite out.

Thanks everyone, looks like I'll have to get one of those converters. Now, that will only take care of video though right? I'll have to hook up audio through headphone out port? Is there a cable to go to audio input on TV from headphone output?

  6. You can find the cables at Best Buy or RadioShack:
