Im having a bit of a problem. I need to convert some FLVs i have to DV video so i can edit them in premiere elements since it seems to be the only format i can use where the audio doesnt get out of sync with the video. The problem im having is that every conversion tool ive tried automatically sets the resolution to 720x480 or 720x576, and the FLV is 640x480 so the picture comes out either too thin or too wide. Does anyone know of a way i can convert my videos to DV video in 640x480? Thanks

I'm pretty sure that dv only supports 720x576 and 720x480.

But doesn't premiere elements supports mjpeg or huffyuv or lagarith(if you have installed the codecs). Convert using avidemux.

It would not be DV video if it wasn't 720 x 480 for NTSC (North American) video. Have you checked the other Premiere presets? I don't have the whittled-down Elements version, but there is a Video For Windows MJPEG format that is 640 x 480, which should work. With that said, I have done plenty of conversions from 640 x 480 to 720 x 480 and the stretch is negligible to the eye. Unless, of course you are shifting between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios.

Your biggest problem, in the end, will be the crappy quality of the highly compressed source flv file. There is no cure for that.
