Okej, I haave used Subtitle Workshop for quite some time now. It's a very efficient program that I like a lot. With Windows XP every thing was ok, until I upgraded to Vista 64 bit. I downloaded the lates version 4.4 for Vista it said. Now it works for some of the videos, but far from all. That is when you include (open) a video (.avi), it simply can't start it. I get the message, failed to open?????
Why does it fail now, when it hasen't before???

Is it vista again that is bothering, and if so, have can you overrun it??

Maybe you are missing one or more codecs. Open each of the the problem AVIs in GSpot and it will tell you whether or not you have the necessary codec for it installed.

Okej I found the problem, kind of stupid by the way.
If you just drag and drop the movie into subtitle, like I used to do before with the older version, it does not work for movies, but for subtitles it's ok
u have to open it through the meny video->load video

    thanks any way
