    Hi,

I'm sure there's a word that describes what I'm attempting to do, but I don't know what that word is.

I have some .mkv files that are already encoded in x264 and I want to basically reformat their container to .mp4 so that my PS3 can play them. I don't think I need to re-encode them and would rather avoid that because it takes forever.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

Remuxing. Use Xvid4PSP. Load the MKV, select the PS3 preset, then set Video and Audio to Copy. It will then repackage your mkv video and audio tracks into an MP4 container.

Caveat : Xvid4PSP is a little behind the times, and doesn't yet support AC3 audio, If that is what you need, look at TSmuxer to demux the content, then MP4Muxer to remux into an MP4 container.
