miniDV to DVD on Apple using 1394

Hi,

I have a Canon ZR-200, and would like to convert the miniDVs to DVD. I understood the best way to do this is using a 1394 (Firewire) cable, but after connecting it to the Camcorder and Mac, no obvious software pops up. Could someone please
explain (in a simple way :) ) what I need to do? Is there software I need to purchase or download to make this work, or is there something inbuilt in the Mac (e.g. in Handbrake) that should do this ?

If connected properly, iMovie should pop up and offer to transfer the footage. Hve you turned the camera on ? (Not meaning to be rude of, course, but sometimes the obvious slips by)
