I'm able to capture high-def HBO movies recorded on my DCT-3416 using the procedure below (MacBookPro and Firewire-SDK):
    http://jpicune.wordpress.com/2006/10/13/record-shows-from-your-comcast-hd-dvr-onto-your-mac/

However, the resulting m2t file only shows two audio channels in properties. I should get six channels.

    1. I'm now doubting that the DCT3416 is *really* outputting 6-channel audio. How can I verify this? I connect the DVR optical out to my AV Receiver and HDMI to my Plasma.

    2. Has anyone else used the same procedure and was able to capture 6-channel audio?

    Thanks in advance,

Just be happy you get any HBO capture over Firewire from cable. For most of us HBO is 5c blocked. You could always attempt audio digital or analog capture off the S/PDIF port. It will probably be out of sync with firewire video. That will require editing.
