I have just completed a home build i7 system and being a long term SVCD2DVD user i was surprised but nicely so.
i7-920 with 3 gig of DDR3 Corsair dominator memory on an Intel Smackover board (Yep,,,, stupid name huh) 5 avi files for 1.6gig total done via quick DVD in 19 minutes.
Tried another with severel similar files for comparison and that took 24 mins. So no fluke. I had no complaints on my old system so over the moon at this one.
Just for anyone buying a new system and considering i7 and that uses SVCD2DVD.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

Just 5 avi files doesn't say much as they could be like 1 minute each and then is 19 minutes not that fast.
So what is the total runtime for all clips? -
It does tell you if you read the post. 5 Avi files 1.6 gig total.
I've deleted the files now but they were 300 meg plus each. 45min run time each -
Not quite, but your second post does:
