This is sort of a strange problem, and it only just began. I've been using the TSCV menu-authoring for some time with no problems, but now this problem has cropped up, and I'm not sure if it's a problem with my computer or with one of the applications.

Pardon me if this is a smidge long. I want to make sure I describe my whole process, so anyone who might have information can perhaps see where the problem comes in.

I am setting up a VCD with three menu pages. The first in an intro page, the second is a chapter menu for the first four chapters, and the third is a chapter menu with the last four chapters.

I create my menu bitmaps in Adobe Photoshop. The main menu is simply a single screen capture with some text overlaying it, instructing the viewer to press "PLAY" to begin or press "1" for the first chapter menu. The second and third menus have four "thumbnail" pictures of relevent sceens for the chapters and corresponding numbers, 1 through 8.

I then encode my bitmaps to mpeg using TMPGenc, with a five second blank audio wav. This is where I first see my problem begin. As I encode the first chapter menu, it displays the appropriate picture UNTIL it is finished encoding. When it finishes encoding, it suddenly begins displaying the second chapter menu picture. When I go into Windows Explorer and click once on the mpg files, the "thumbnail" view off to the left side is correct (displaying the first chapter picture and the second for the second) but when I double click to open and display the mpeg files in Media Player, it again displays the SECOND chapter menu picture when I open the FIRST chapter menu.

Now, I know I have not accidentally encoded the bitmap for the second chapter menu as the first chapter menu mpg, because I have gone through, deleted the existing mpg files, and re-encoding, making absolutely certain I was using the right files, THREE TIMES. Also, this is happening on TWO different VCDs I am authoring, in this case, the first and second halves of a two-hour movie.

In TSCV, the same problem. When I go to preview the authored VCD, it displays the second chapter menu picture when it's supposed to be displaying the first. This carries over into the completed disc, which I burned on the off chance that the problem was on my computer and wouldn't carry over to the finished product.

Does anyone know why this would be happening?
