I am trying to make an SVCD with Nero. I can make them with any AVI so far, with no problems. I have a movie now that has subtitles (in a seperate files, an .idx file and a .sub file). Is it possible to make a VCD that will include the subtitles?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I can't get/find I-Author and the 'SVCD selectable' subtitles don't work for me. However, the 'CVD Selectable' subtitles do.

I would d/load the demos of both types under the 'what is' section to the left to see if your DVD supports it. If not you'll have to make permanant subtitles (which is very easy to do).

Vejita-sama (or anyone) : Is there a way you know to make the subtitles permanent on an AVI so I can just burn that to an SVCD?

Baldrick - Yeah I was trying that, but for some reason the SRT to SSa coverter won't recognize my .sub file as a valid subtitle file

  7. Best method for CVD subtitles:

Rip all the subtitles using Subrip0.95a (i think that is the correct version).

Encode, multiplex, and split your mpeg files.

Add the subtitles using submux.exe to your mpeg files.

Create bin/cue files using VCDEasy (latest version).

    Burn and enjoy your subtitles

Let me know if you need more detailed help.

warthawg - Ok, here's what is going on:

I have an AVI of a french film. It has the subtitles to it in a .sub file. If I play the AVI in PowerDVDXP, it looks and sounds great with the subtitles as well. I need to get them all onto a SVCD. The subtitles are in a .sub format.

  9. You need the subtool23 to convert the .sub file to .srt. If u want I can send it to you.

hunting - I have that, but whenever i try to open the sub file it tells me that it is an usupported format
I know the sub file works though, I watch the AVI with subtitles all the time, and it's the only subtitle file I have

  12. That's strange. Have you already tried to convert on SubSync?

  15. I'm not sure what the etiquette for posting links for I-Author, since it says you shouldnt post warez links, but even VCDHelp says to use it. Anyways, I've found a link for I-Author. Umm..email me or go to google and search for "i-author". It should be within the first 20 hits. Its actually a forum post on afterdawn pointing to the actual page.
