I have the 6.2.4330 version and whenever I load an .mkv video it freezes up and shuts down. Anyone know why?

Because it's not very good ?
If you want help on this product, I suggest you start here : http://support.avs4you.com/login.aspx
Or you could ditch it and try Xvid4PSP, which has not had a problem with any MKV I have thrown at it.Read my blog here.

Actually I've recently purchased avs video converter 6.2 and I am very impressed with it. I can do direct conversions from mkv to wmv. I can also do direct conversions from a very old smpeg4 v2 codec to any format I need. It has been pretty stable and accepts most inputs I've thrown at it.
However I just had it crash halfway through a dvd conversion from a smpeg4 codec. It said something about a c+ crash I think?
Anyway I just wanted to give it some love here. It does have its place in a video users arsenal.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
