  1. Hi All

Looked through the forums to solve what appears to be a fairly common problem, ASPI missing on Windows XP.

I have tried everything suggested in previous posts, for the last two solid days in fact. I have downloaded the files from Nero, CDRWIN and Adaptec. I have also downloaded and used ForceASPI, and pasted files from numerous locations to other locations as i have seen in the previous posts, but all to no avail.

What i cant work out is why i can copy using Easy CD Creator, but not Nero or CDRWIN. As i said, i have downloaded everything suggested but nothing seems to do the job.

Please, please can somebody help me fix this problem, before it drives me literally insane.

    Cheers

    Steve

  2. There is a new ASPI layer released by Adaptec:

    http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&file...=aspi_v470.exe

    "
    Notes:
At this time Adaptec is allowing the download of this file without regard to ownership of retail Adaptec Products.

  3. Hi there.
I'm no computer whizz but i vaguely remember reading on this forum that these different software packages are simply not compatible with each other, (i think?) they each monopolise the cd rewriter or whatever, i even remember seeing something about editing registry keys, can' t remember wether it did any good.

I don't think its an aspi layer issue, i think this incompatibility has been reported in other os's.

My original intention was to use nero with any other cd-rw program than incd - i find it crashes a lot and am fed up with having to re save stuff and reformat cd-rw's. Being this buggy how can anyone reliably use it as data backup. Anyone else help out here!

  4. Just done a quick google search for you. Damn shame i can't search this forum for you, because i'm sure i saw this problem mentioned here.

    For now read:-http://www.animewired.net/XMB/viewthread.php?tid=58

Look at the second post down.
I know its a different os, but as i said its got nothing to do with aspi layers.(previous poster - good link, thanks!)

Ok, I've had a few people ask me how I finally got nero to work on my system when I had the adaptec/roxio program. Yeah!! Nero does work now... here is what I did and Jojo I hope this helps you!

This information applies to the following products: Easy CD Creator Deluxe 4.x Suite Windows 98se OS

    1. Please go to Start/Settings/Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs. From here, please uninstall all Adaptec programs and remove all shared files.

    2. Before rebooting, go to 'Start' and then to Find (Search) Files and Folders' and locate the following list of files. Search in the C: drive for the following and rename the extensions to " *.rox":
    Before / After
    Cdrtc.dll / Cdrtc.rox
    Cdral.dll / Cdral.rox
    Cdr4dll.dll / Cdr4dll.rox
    Cdr4vsd.vxd / Cdr4vsd.rox
    Cdr4vsd.sys / Cdr4vsd.rox

    3. Search for Adaptec*.*

    4. Delete Adaptec folders from c:\program files and c:\program files\common files if found.

***WARNING*** the next step involves editing your System Registry. I strongly recommend you export your registry before attempting any editing. Please note that editing your registry incorrectly can cause irreparable system damage. >.< Approach with caution.

    5. Go to Start>Run and type "regedit" Click on the 'OK' button which will take you into Registry Editor.

    6. Go to HKey_Local_Machine>software. Remove any of the following keys if found: - Adaptec shared - CDR4VSD - Components - Direct CD - Easy CD Creator - SoundStream - SPG Master Setup - Take Two - Webcheckup

    7. Exit the registry editor.

    8. Please reboot the system and login.

    9. Make sure there are no programs running, and disable all icons by clock on start bar.

    10. Install Nero and reboot.

Hope this somewhat clean uninstall is helpful and your other burning program works now!

  7. I had the same problem with win XP and ASPI drivers:

    I ran Force ASPI.

    1. Uninstall whatever you have install with the killaspi.bat
    REBOOT
    2. Install the ASPI with the instaspi.bat
    REBOOT

    Download VCDEASY: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdeasy.htm#download

    Install VCDEasy and launch it.
First we need to configure to burning.
Select Settings and select CDRDAO Integration and now you have to restart VCDEasy.

My drive work with the generic-mmc driver:
