  1. I've tried to capture an AVI with VirtualDub and encode with Cinema Craft, but I get an error message:

'Loaded 0 bytes expected 8 bytes'

This happens with whatever settings I use for the caprture.

Out of interest I tried the same files with TMPGenc - and it encodes them with no problems at all.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

How do do exactly capture the avi? Is it in RGB ot YUV2 format? I think you're capturing in RBG format but CCE expects YUV2.

How do you feed the avi to CCE? If you're using avisynth, add Convert2YUV2() onto your script. Frameserving from VirtualDub (CCE 2.5) or TMPGEnc should also work.

  3. I'm capturing in RGB - so I'll give YUV2 a try - although I'm sure CCE help does say that it accepts RGB too, but maybe not!

Abd I'm capturing the AVI files to disk - then loading it into CCE manually.

  4. Load your captured avi in VirtualDub, and the choose file>save as old format avi. Then try to load it in CCE

    hope it helps

  5. Frotsen - thanks, that workd! But, my hard drive is too small for the uncompressed files!!

I've tried encoding an AVI from a CD (Ghost Recon to be exact), it's encoded with the Indeo IR32 codec and Cinema Craft will encode it with no ploblems. However, if I do anything to the file with VirtualDub, then CCE won't touch it - even if I use 'Direct Stream Copy' (which I assume means that it just copies the data without changing it?) I get the same error in CCE. I've tried to use TMPenc as well, an it has no problems at all - just slower than CCE!

I also tried using YUV2 - but still no joy
