Looks like this is the tool I have been looking for to convert my avi files I have. (NTSC Film Rate)

I want to burn about 8 mpegs on a DVD and not have to re-encode them since I have already done it in ffmpegX. I have been encoding my avi files into mpg. Is this the easiest way to put multiple video files on a DVD??

Any suggestions as to what authoring tool I should be using?? I can always switch to my Windows side if need be.

    thanks with any input -

First, verify that the mpegs you have created are DVD-compliant (see "What is DVD" in the upper left-hand corner of this Forum page if you are unsure of what constitutes compliance). Only certain resolutions, frame rates and audio codecs/parameters are acceptable. If your clips aren't compliant, you will need to reconvert them before you do anything else.

Next, author the collection. You can get fancy with menus, or just have a basic DVD. Either way, my personal preference is GUIforDVDAuthor (a Windows tool). Take your authored result and burn with ImgBurn (also a Windows tool). These are good tools, and free. Fewer comparable options exist for the Mac (although perhaps others will chime in soon with their refutations).

Then sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labors!

Roxio Toast is the authoring-burning app of choice for many here. It will not re-encode DVD compliant MPEG-2 clips that have an NTSC Film rate and a 3:2 pulldown. It allows for a menu.
For this task the latest version isn't strictly needed. Toast 7/8/9 will do it too.
