    Hi, please help.
I am new to streaming BD to PS3 so I may have misunderstood something but is the quality really as good as actually playing a BD movie from the original disc?
This is what I have tried so far:
I ripped a Blu-Ray to my HDD using Anydvd, then I used TSMuxer to remux just the H264, AC3 and PGS into a new “.m2ts” file then renamed it “.mpg”
I then tried streaming it using Vista’s WMP and it seemed to be working fine but I noticed to activity lights on the gigabit switch were not flickering as much as if I tried to copy the file from 1 PC to another.
Another odd thing, the PS3 showed the file as an MPEG, I did try streaming the same file using Twonky and that showed up on the PS3 as MPEG2

You can also try stream the m2ts directly using ps3 media server and see how it looks like.

How long does it take to stream a 90 minute movie from the computer to the PS3? Answer: 90 minutes. How long does it take to copy the 90 minute movie from one computer to another? Answer: It depends on the file size but probably around 15 minutes (for a 20 GB file). Hence the difference in switch activity.

Thanks I will have a go with ps3 media server, however.
If the PS3 is showing either MPEG or MPEG-2 for the same file but depending on which server software I use do you think one is really converting it to a lower standard?

I got PS3 Media Server working, it listed the .m2ts file and played it OK but when I tried it again, instead of listing the file the PS3 just showed a folder called #--TRANSCODE--#, when I selected it, it showed another folder with the same name as the movie, when I selected that folder it sayed "There are no tracks".
The only setting I changed was the Shared folders, I changed share the folder where I want to keep my files rather than the whole PC.

Restart PS3 Media Server. Sometimes it glitches. It is written in Java after all, not a robust programming language. Sometimes it stops reading files correctly. A restart of the Media Server software gets it going again.

Play the m2ts directly on the PS3 through Twonky or some other media server. I have done about 25 BDs and HD-DVDs and I know in the case of the BDs it is the exact same quality as the disc. The HD-DVDs have to be reencoded and for the most part they also look fantastic. Since I don't have an HD-DVD player connected to my HDTV I cannot say for sure they are identicle, but depending on the source the output is equivalent to the BDs.

I tried a reboot and all that seems to work is PS3 Media Server will only sever still picture files, any folder with movies in just shows as #--TRANSCODE--#
