In what video container? mkv, mp4, avi?

You could try run it through for example avidemux, under video and audio choose copy and save as an mkv,mp4,avi.

  3. more probably your sample is corrupted

better to reencode the original, or to download a correct file

  7. i will try to demux with ffmpeg..

    ffmpeg -i myfile.avi -an -vcodec copy stream.avi
    ffmpeg -i myfile.avi -vn -acodec copy stream.ogg

divfix the stream.avi (attention.. you could lose syncronization...)

    remux into mkv

Hm, this is odd. I try ffmpeg and now the resulting avi file is fine (shows correct timing and noproblem with seek. However I found that the video and audio is not showing the same time. Video is around 1:12:09 while audio is 1:11:59 (around 10 second differences). What is the best way to combine audio and video again and try to sync it as close as possible, want to avoid mkv if I can.

Edit: I use mkvtool and it seems OK. I will live with it at the moment, thanks for helping me!
