  1. OK, I am a newbie...... I am ripping dvd to vcd.
I read and followed the ripping guide from this site, and the process went smoother and faster than I had thought it would (about 3 hours in all). However the quality really isn't impressive at all. I can't play svcds so I have to get better quality in a vcd. Here are some problems I am having, and maybe I can get there with some help.

[1] I read that some movies are 23.97 fps and some are 29.7 or something like this, after I rip, I {F5} in dvd2avi and it seems to change between FILM and NTSC is this normal??

[2]If (when I {F5}) it says 29.7 fps, do I want to "Force Film"? Or is this for movies in 23.97 only?

[3] After the movie is encoded in TMPGEnc the file sizes are much smaller than the CD will hold (616 & 628MB), is there a way to get better quality and use all of the space on the CDs?

[4]Movie after burn was shaky during pans and action scenes(Flickered). I did not use force film in dvd2avi, I chose Interlace 16:9 (NTSC) High quality.

[5]Reddish tint throughout entire movie, same movie as above.

Any help would be appreciated!! Thanx!

  2. forced film is a shortcut. your source needs to be a high % film type to avoid too many misjudged frames & async(i recommend 97%+). inverse telecine(tmpgenc, aviutil, virtualdub, avisynth) is appropriate for the remainder of (hard)telecined sources. you can safely assume all theatrical release movies are printed on 24fps film stock, thus telecined when transfered to video
