i have video i've been trying to convert with virtualdub using ffdshow. It says that a microsoft audio codec is needed. I put it into G-spot and it said the codec is 0x0161 (WMA v2). I did a search and was told to download and install the ac3filter which I did, but nothing has changed. What do I need to convert this? where can i download it?

    thank you
    jim

  2. In vdub, you need the vdub wmv plugin, and look for
    Code:
    "DivX ;) Audio"

    or

    DivX WMA Audio

I have the wmv plugin. Do i just go into configuration and enable it under divx audio or divx wma audio? (can't do it now cause i'm at work!)

    thanks

  5. No , there are 2 separate things that you need, the wmv plugin, and DivX WMA Audio which is an ACM type codec. There are licensing/legal issues with using WMV/WMA in vdub, but there are free versions floating around just search for those 2 terms I listed in my first post.

  7. Well it appears videohelp has a direct link for DivX WMA Audio ,I had to put it in "code" above because the semicolon+end bracket became a smiley

hmm...didn't work. When I extracted it, it had an inf file so I installed it from that and nothing. Then I put it into the plug-in folder (even though it didn't have a plug-in extension) and that didn't work either. Is there something I'm missing?

  10. the wmv.vdplugin is in the vdub plugins folder, and I think you right click the inf to install. If you 've installed it correctly it should show up in the vdub audio compression menu. This won't work on 6-channel WMAPro, only WMA2 like the id code you gave. What error message (if any) are you getting when you open in vdub?

i did install like you said, but i didn't check to see if it was in the audio compression list. The error I'm getting was the same one as before about not finding the codec to decompress and that it needs a microsoft audio codec. I'll try again when I get home tonight.

    thanks for the post
