  1. I have taken some video under poor lighting conditions

Can you recommend some freeware program that will

brighten, gamma correct and modify the contrast?

virtualdub mod with filters does a decent job

    Anything better than that?

You didn't say the format of this video, but if DV Enosoft DV Processor is worth trying.

Freeware, I'd look into using Avisynth and its myriad of filters in conjunction with VDub. I wouldn't expect miracles, since the tools you have are probably not the best for shooting videos in low light to begin with. An alternative toVDub that is worth a look is AviDemux, it has some built in filters for brightness, gamma, and contrast.

  5. Avidemux is just the ticket.
    Thanks for recommending it

    Works well

For those who use Flip ... if the video is shot in poor lighting conditions
you can improve it using this program
    Select video format Mpeg4xvid
Use filters to improve brightness, saturation and gamma
set augio to mp2 (two lame)
and save the file as avi
    it works fine

You can then feed the video into other programs to make a movie
    by adding titles and music

Hope this info is useful for someone
