    .SRT to .XML

    Are you sure of that???

    P.S.: Homework done. According to Weakipaedia, there are
    three XML-based subtitle formats: USF, SSF, and TTXT. If this latter is
    what you meant by "XML", then MP4Box might give you what you want:
    Find an SRT or SUB subtitle file, and run MP4Box -ttxt file.srt. This will convert the subtitles in TTXT format.
    { source: http://gpac.sourceforge.net/doc_ttxt.php }

    HTH!

    Could you please tell us what player accepts that "raw" kind of .XML
    as a valid subtitle file?

    Code:
    <title id="9">
    <time start="00:01:36,343" end="00:01:38,675"/>
    <text1>Get some sleep, Frodo.</text1>
    </title>

    <title id="10">
    <time start="00:01:48,956" end="00:01:53,052"/>
    <text1>The power of Isengard</text1>
    <text2>is at your command...</text2>
    </title>

    <title id="11">
    <time start="00:01:53,260" end="00:01:57,663"/>
    <text1>... Sauron, Lord of the Earth.</text1>
    </title>

    <title id="12">
    <time start="00:02:01,001" end="00:02:06,803"/>
    <text1>Build me an army worthy of Mordor.</text1>
    </title>

    <title id="13">
    <time start="00:02:12,379" end="00:02:16,839"/>
    <text1>What orders from Mordor, my lord?</text1>
    <text2>What does the Eye command?</text2>
    </title>

    <title id="14">
    <time start="00:02:17,318" end="00:02:19,218"/>
    <text1>We have work to do.</text1>
    </title>
    [ EDIT ]

    OK, a quick query "srt to xml" @ Google reveals that the "raw" XML subtitles
    are used by some FLV players, and so far only PHP scripts are able to convert
    srt to xml.
