  1. Hello,

I have been recording onto DVD+RW for months with the Goodman DVDG306R but I've recently been running into problems with the DVD being read. I'm not sure is it the Recorder or the disks that is the problem. I don't think it's the disks as I've been trying on fresh disks. Is there any program I can use to reformat the disks to make sure there's no issue with the disk.

    Regards,
    David

The easiest thing to try would be a different brand/type of disc as this type of issue is typically media related. Stick with a quality media such as Verbatim as they are the most reliable and consistent.

Do not know for sure but the Goodman might be a clone of liteon
Either way the use and operation of a +RW disk should be the same

The following is how I delt with problems with the RW disks use and I have had NO problems since

I first FULLY erased In A PC all +RW Disk that were a problem

[Important] I DID not ALLOW the PC software to Format The Disk. To do a PC format might confuse the recorder and cause it to reject the disk

I put the disk back in the stand-alone [It should be recognized as a blank disk] than fully erased it, this prepared and formatted it to the units liking

[Important] I do not erase segments of a disk. If filled or partially filled,To do so and than feel the disk is erased [could result in an error] I erase the entire disk With the Unit..

This was a number of years ago and I have had not 1 Problem since, and do not use any PC or software

    As to disks
I have mainly used Verbatim and Ridata, some TY, Maxel and others.
The +RW were mainly Verbatim and some Maxel. The Maxel were supplied by a user and I have Not had any difference in operation or performance

    EDIT
While I don't generaly care fot Nero its full erase works fine for the purpose
