I have a couple of high def mkv files I recently made from hd-dvds (I finally got ripbot264 to work for me ). What I want to do is insert chapters into these mkv files WITHOUT REENCODING.

Is this possible and what tool(s) would I need for this?

I am under the impression that the WD TV Media player supports mkv with chapters (I have the December firmware upgrade). This is correct isn't it? This is what I would be using to watch the mkv's with.

    Thanks for any help.

EDIT - I'm checking out the roger tango mkv chapter maker. He says it works on the wd media player. I'll look into it.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Yes, WD TV supports MKV chapters. To add/replace chapters, MKV must be remuxed (but there's no need for reencoding); which takes about 5-10minutes (depending on PC speed).
To make any changes inside MKV (chapters, subtitles, etc.), I'm using MKVtoolnixGUI, which is great for such tasks.
Btw. MKVtoolnixGUI not only is able to mux chapters into MKV. Using it, you can also create new chapters from scratch.

@hbx2006 - thanks for the input. I just haven't gotten around to this project yet.
