I am at my wits end, I cannot find a hack anywhere for this model. It's a dvd / vcr combo if that makes a difference. I would really appreciate any help you can give on this.

    Thanks in advance,

Yes. People don't like to hear this but many DVD players cannot be hacked. Any combo type player (DVD/VCR, DVD/TV, etc.), portable, home theater system model or car player may not have any hacks. Many regular DVD players also cannot be hacked. For example, at this time Samsung appears to have locked every single player they currently sell anywhere in the world and none of them can be hacked. The situation gets grimmer by the day for finding a player that can be hacked.

Hollywood has gotten to most of the manufacturers and convinced them to stop producing players that can be made region free. I am completely puzzled as to what exactly this is supposed to accomplish. Now instead of people buying DVDs from other regions they will simply turn to piracy and get their other region DVDs that way rather than pay money and buy them when they don't have a player capable of playing other regions' DVDs. Somehow this makes sense to the numbskulls in Hollywood and it will somehow usher in a golden age of DVD and BluRay buying at levels never seen before and everyone will profit. Right.

Although these have mostly been done in Europe, in the past I did see a few web sites that offered some do it yourself hardware mods to make some players region free. I don't have any links to these sites any more. About 3-4 years ago I bought such a kit and bricked a Pioneer DVD player trying to install it. Typically these things require seriously good soldering skill and electronics expertise above what an average person would have. I wouldn't ever try to install such a thing again by myself. I have seen a few websites that offer hardware modded DVD players for sale that can be made region free, but the markup is quite high on them. It's not uncommon for $100 or much much more to be added to the price.
