    I have a samsung dvd-r175 which records from all "+" and "-". I have recorded movies from 2 different dvd recorders, first one went on the fritz. I have watched movies recorded from both machines on this one machine. Now it is only viewing bought dvd's and intermittently playing my own recorded movies. There is no pattern. Sometimes it will play movies from neg and pos, sometimes it won't. It has played movies I recorded from the old dvd recorded, also. I am very confused. Do I need to trash this and get a new one?

    It could simply be dirty or failing. The first media to have read issues is recordable media.
